Kilkishen, County Clare
The Cottage at Knockatureen, meaning "tower of the small hill",
is a cozy, traditional 200 year old thatched stone cottage adjacent
to Loch Clonlea, one of the many lakes surrounding the village
in County Clare. Situated on an acre of green, with lush gardens
and fruit trees, the self-catering cottage has immense charm and
character; quietly secluded and yet within walking distance of
Kilkishen, a small town with two local pubs. The cottage is only
20 minutes from Shannon Airport, close to Bunratty Castle &
Folk Park and minutes from Ennis, the lively, genuine market town
of County Clare.

returned from a three week stay in Ireland at "The Cottage at
Knockatureen", a charming recently renovated thatch cottage. It
had all the modern conveniences, but still retained its original
flavor. A two bedroom cottage with a modern kitchen, dining room
and a lovely sitting room with large fireplace, this cottage is
about 20 minutes from Shannon Airport, a mile out of the little
town of Kilkishen in County Clare. We were within a day's drive
of the Burren, Gallway Bay, and fifteen minutes from the famous
Bunratty Castle. We found it a delightful, relaxing way to spend
a vacation, exploring all the interesting countryside by day,
and reading by the fire in the evening.

"The Cottage", is a perfect blend of the "old sod" charm of an
Irish cottage with the modern conveniences necessary to make your
stay not just pleasant, but "grand altogether". The carefully
restored interior, with its old Irish slate and pine floors, as
well as antique pine ceilings and whitewashed walls, is furnished
with antiques and period pieces. It will take you back in time
to the age when the Celtic peoples worked the land by day and
returned to the warmth and cheer of the hearth by night.
